  • Why do these classes cost money? Classes are taught by professional 3rd party experts and we charge a fee that goes 100% toward covering their costs. The PTSA also sponsors FREE enrichment during school like Art Smart, Run Club, Spelling Bee Club, Garden Club, and more – these are provided to all students without charge and are powered by volunteers and donations. 
  • Is the cost per class? No. The cost covers the entire fall quarter, which runs Oct-Dec. There are approximately 8-10 total classes because of holidays (you'll see specific dates for classes during registration). 
  • Where do the classes take place? On the Dickinson/Explorer campus. 
  • Can I sign up my child for more than one program? Yes.
  • Are the classes for all grades? Yes. Any Dickinson/Explorer student may register, as long as their parent/guardian is a PTSA member + an approved LWSD volunteer.
  • Does my child take the bus home and then go back to school for the class? No. For programs that start immediately after school, your child can stay at school but will need to be picked up promptly by a guardian when the program ends. 
  • Can my child take the bus to the before-school program? No. Your student must be dropped off in the morning (buses do not run at this time), but they can then remain at school after class ends until school begins. 
  • Do I need to be there the whole time? No, but a guardian must chaperone at least one class during the fall quarter. That guardian must be a PTSA member + approved by LWSD. This is required by our insurance policy. 
  • Do the students compete in leagues or tournaments? No. These classes are not competitive teams or leagues and do not attempt to teach complete mastery; they're focused on helping students learn and grow together. 
  • Are scholarships available? Yes. Please contact the PTSA at enrichment@dickinsonptsa.org and the school counselor. 
  • Do I need to be a PTSA member to register? Yes, an annual PTSA membership is required to register by our insurance. If someone in your family is not already a member, please register at Join / Renew.
